Privacy Policy

Data you enter

You may enter income assumptions, work schedule, region, tax assumptions, expenses, Quick Check decisions, recurring review decisions, renewal dates, notes, savings assumptions, live time-value sessions, portfolio accounts, assets, investments, debts, valuations, currencies, and manual exchange rates. This information is stored locally on your device using Apple platform storage.

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on, Apple CloudKit mirrors your existing local TimeCost database, including portfolio and saved exchange-rate records, to your private iCloud database so it can appear on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. The data counts against your iCloud storage and is not visible to the TimeCost developer in the developer portal. You can turn sync off without deleting the local database, export a JSON copy at any time, and delete TimeCost record zones from iCloud in the app after sync is off.

Exchange-rate requests

If your portfolio uses a currency other than your selected display currency, TimeCost may retrieve the European Central Bank's public daily reference-rate file over HTTPS when you open Portfolio or choose Refresh Rates. The request does not include your holdings, balances, income, profile, notes, or manual rates. The ECB's web infrastructure may receive standard request information such as IP address, user agent, time, and requested URL. Manual rates remain on device or in your private iCloud database if you enable sync.

On-device screenshot and explanation tools

If you choose a subscription screenshot, Apple Vision reads its text on device. TimeCost first applies local rules and, when necessary on a supported device, may use Apple's on-device Foundation Models to extract only fields supported by that text. The result is a draft: you must review it and tap Save. The selected image is not stored, uploaded, or retained, and TimeCost uses no remote AI service. If you save the draft, its ordinary expense fields are stored like other app data and may enter your private iCloud database only when you have enabled sync.

On-device explanations

Explain controls return deterministic TimeCost text about calculations, assumptions, conversions, projections, and safety. On a supported device, Apple's on-device Foundation Models may classify a question you type into a supported topic. The financial values displayed on the screen are not included in that classification request. Other devices use local rules. Questions are not sent to TimeCost servers, and this feature does not generate financial recommendations.

Data we do not collect

• No TimeCost account is required.
• No bank, card, brokerage, or payroll connection is requested.
• No transaction scraping or background financial account import is performed.
• No payment card details are collected by TimeCost.
• No screenshot, question, or financial entry is sent to a remote AI service.
• TimeCost does not use your financial entries for advertising or tracking.

Subscriptions

Optional TimeCost Pro annual and monthly subscriptions and the Pro lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple Account. Apple provides purchase status information needed for the app to unlock paid features. TimeCost does not receive your full payment card details. iCloud sync is available on every plan and is not removed if a subscription ends.

Exports and support

If you export CSV, JSON, PDF, or calendar files, those files are created because you requested them and may contain the data shown in the export. If you email support, the message and any attachments you choose to send are handled for support purposes.

Website

The TimeCost website is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process standard request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, and security telemetry to deliver and protect the site.
